Consumers Drive Technology Devices
For a long time we asked for our electronics to get smaller and smaller. Remember the first mobile phone and how big that thing was? How about the stereo? We wanted everything smaller and then all of a sudden, we started back the other way. We wanted things bigger. We said we want a bigger screen TV, but we also want it to take less floor space. We wanted slimmer laptops but bigger screens. Now, we have started back the other way. We have asked for a smaller laptop that will do our most common tasks while traveling and we want it to cost a lot less. Well, in comes the netbook. The netbook was the laptop that the industry came out with in answer to our demands. The key to what is happening with technology can be seen in the netbook. We, meaning consumers, are driving the industry and we are getting better at telling them exactly what we want. Part of what we seem to want is circumstantial electronics that will fit the circumstances and we want them less expensive so that we can buy more.
