Who Will Be The Next Banksy?
Is Banksy a one-off, or will we see another graffiti artist politicise the walls of our urban landscapes?
Or has Banksy made that impossible now – can there only be one, and simply many imitators? It may be a case of diminishing returns in terms of capturing the imagination of the public. After Banksy has whetted our appetite, we may not have the hunger to see our walls peppered with wry political and social observations from someone else. What new styles can be brought to our walls?
As they say, it’s all about timing. Banksy arrived at the right time when graffiti was going stale – taggers spamming the walls with their gang names. So perhaps there can be no other artist who will have the same impact as Banksy.
