An Opinion On “For Private”
Wednesday, February 29th, 2012Government has records of people who use the New York and New Jersey toll thruways as well as many bridges in the area. Government does not make that information public. Just as guy driving $3000 20 year old Chevy expects privacy, so should a billionaire.
Like everyone, I have enjoyed reading about the jet travel and vacation of the super rich. I even got a kick out of reading about the eclipse watching Google Founders, and the 52,000 gallons of fuel it consumed.
But I do not think I had any actual right to know this.
For example: The fact that Donald Trump flies 82 times a year between New York and Palm Beach, if made public harms his prospects to become a President.
Most corporate travel sites take steps to ensure that travel plans are not shared within the company. Most corporate CEOs would not like the masses to know how much they flew on the corporate jet. Many use the corporate jet for vacations, and reimburse the company. Will this eventually become public?
